Reignited

Fires burn hotter when the lights go out,
The world is still and silence shouts
It's deafening

The first spark was an accident
We weren't prepared when the fire was lit
We fueled it with all we had

As the flame withered I watched it die
Praying that I could keep it alive
It fizzled out

A trail of smoke and glowing embers
I all but lost hope, until I remembered
Fires can be rekindled

The strike of match or a conversation
The flash of a flame sparks imagination
And we're hot all over again

Shelter it from the rain cloud
Turn off the lights and think out loud
The flame will light the way
